Christine Viennet's Collections

Christine Viennet's Museum is the achievement of her everlasting, enthusiastic passion and patience. The French and European XIXth century faïence manufactures are largely represented through their Arts of the Table, their skill in Trompe l'œil to their exuberant Majolica.

The old stable building of the castle has kept its entire authenticity although transformed into a world of ceramics. You will discover with delight European ceramics, a remarkable memory of the XIXth century extravagant, often baroque and amazingly varied creations. Japanese influence in the European XIXth century ceramics is also an interesting aspect of the collection.

The jewel of the Museum is an important Collection of the Bernard Palissy followers from the XVIth to the XXth century. Exhibitions of contemporary ceramicists.

The stables can also welcome receptions and seminars with bed and breakfast possibilities and meals.

     Bernard Palissy (1510-1590)

Bernard Palissy représente ce que la céramique française de la deuxième moitié du XVIth, siècle aura fait de plus original et de plus luxueux.

Bernard Palissy represents the most original and luxurious ceramic art work realised during the second half of the XVIth century.
A man of genius and passion who spent his lifetime defending mankind and nature. Bernard Palissy created in clay and in Trompe l'œil with an extreme delicacy and reality nature's variety and richness.

His art of reproducing, in the minute detail the smallest creatures, reptiles, batracians… and many botanic species has been a continuous inspiration to many artists and particularly to his XIXth century's followers.

You will discover at the museum of Château de Raissac this unexpected, unusual and magic world.
