Built on a roman villa's vestiges,
situated in the heart of the Languedoc region, the Château de
Raissac has had differents architectural modifications up to the end
of the XVIIIth & XIXth century.
The winemaking tradition is very old at Raissac, it is said to
go back to the roman's time. The grounds are on the verge of the river
Orb, 3 Kilometres from Béziers. The property covers 115 hectares
of which 96 are producing wine.
For the last six generations, the Viennet family has been growing,
producing and elaborating their own wines in their imposing XVIIth century
cellars, located on a hill called "Puech Cocut", The Cuckoo's
Hill.
The Château also bath in the art world. In the
beautiful old stables, Christine Viennet has given life to wonderful
ceramic and Art of The Table Museum. She creates in clay "Trompe
l'œil" and fanciful pieces inspired by the Renaissance
period and has Bernard Palissy.
